The Essential Facts of Backgammon Game Plans – Part 2

As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and luck. The aim is to shift your checkers carefully around the game board to your home board while at the same time your opposing player moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player chips heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at specific times. Here are the two final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the goal of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift their pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get hit, or result a damaged position if she ever tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your board. After you have successfully assembled the prime to stop the movement of your opponent, your opponent doesn’t even get to roll the dice, and you move your chips and toss the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions in hope to better your chances of winning, however the Back Game tactic relies on alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game tactic is commonly employed when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this plan, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the pieces are moved is partially the result of the dice toss.
