The Essential Details of Backgammon Strategies – Part 2

[ English ]

As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and pure luck. The aim is to shift your chips safely around the board to your inner board while at the same time your opposing player moves their pieces toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces shifting in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at specific times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift her chips, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely barricade any movement of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get hit, or result a damaged position if he at all tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your board. As soon as you’ve successfully constructed the prime to stop the movement of the opponent, the competitor doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you move your chips and toss the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions in hope to boost your odds of winning, but the Back Game tactic relies on different techniques to do that. The Back Game strategy is often employed when you’re far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are moved is partially the result of the dice toss.
