The Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part One
The objective of a Backgammon match is to move your chips around the Backgammon board and get those pieces from the game board quicker than your opposing player who works just as hard to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a match in Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and luck. How far you will be able to shift your chips is left to the numbers from tossing the dice, and how you move your pieces are determined by your overall playing plans. Enthusiasts use differing tactics in the differing stages of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Plan
The aim of the Running Game strategy is to entice all your chips into your home board and bear them off as quickly as you can. This strategy concentrates on the speed of advancing your checkers with little or no efforts to hit or block your opponent’s chips. The ideal scenario to use this plan is when you believe you can shift your own chips a lot faster than your opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the board; 2) all your pieces have past your opponent’s pieces; or 3) the opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking plan.
The Blocking Game Plan
The main aim of the blocking strategy, by the name, is to block the opponent’s pieces, temporarily, not worrying about shifting your pieces rapidly. As soon as you’ve created the blockade for the competitor’s movement with a few checkers, you can move your other chips rapidly off the board. The player will need to also have an apparent plan when to back off and shift the chips that you employed for blocking. The game becomes intriguing when your competitor utilizes the same blocking tactic.
