The Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part 2
As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The goal is to shift your chips carefully around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition moves their checkers toward their home board in the opposing direction. With competing player chips heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific strategies at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon techniques to round out your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the goal of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to shift his pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely block any movement of the opposing player by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he ever attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point two and point eleven in your board. As soon as you’ve successfully constructed the prime to prevent the movement of the competitor, your competitor does not even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your chips and toss the dice yet again. You’ll win the game for sure.
The Back Game Technique
The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions with hope to better your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game technique utilizes seperate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game technique is commonly used when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are relocated is partly the result of the dice roll.
