The Essential Basics of Backgammon Game Plans – Part One

[ English ]

The objective of a Backgammon match is to shift your checkers around the Backgammon board and pull those pieces off the board faster than your challenger who works harder to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a match in Backgammon requires both strategy and luck. How far you can move your pieces is left to the numbers from tossing the dice, and the way you shift your chips are determined by your overall playing tactics. Players use a few tactics in the different stages of a game dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Strategy

The goal of the Running Game tactic is to lure all your pieces into your home board and pull them off as quickly as you can. This tactic focuses on the pace of shifting your chips with absolutely no efforts to hit or stop your competitor’s pieces. The best time to use this technique is when you believe you can move your own pieces faster than the opposition does: when 1) you have less chips on the board; 2) all your pieces have moved beyond your competitor’s checkers; or 3) the opposing player doesn’t use the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The main goal of the blocking plan, by its title, is to stop your opponent’s chips, temporarily, not fretting about shifting your chips rapidly. After you’ve created the barrier for the opponent’s movement with a few pieces, you can shift your other checkers quickly from the game board. You really should also have a clear strategy when to extract and move the chips that you used for the blockade. The game gets intriguing when the opponent uses the same blocking technique.
