The Essential Facts of Backgammon Game Plans – Part Two

As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and good luck. The aim is to shift your chips carefully around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player moves their chips toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With opposing player chips moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular strategies at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon strategies to round out your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move her chips, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any movement of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get bumped, or end up in a damaged position if she ever attempts to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point two and point 11 in your board. Once you’ve successfully assembled the prime to stop the movement of the opponent, the competitor doesn’t even get to toss the dice, and you move your checkers and roll the dice again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions in hope to improve your odds of winning, but the Back Game tactic relies on different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is frequently utilized when you are far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This strategy is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
