The Essential Details of Backgammon Game Plans – Part One

The objective of a Backgammon game is to shift your chips around the game board and pull them off the game board quicker than your opposing player who works harder to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Winning a round of Backgammon requires both strategy and good luck. Just how far you will be able to move your pieces is left to the numbers from tossing the dice, and just how you move your chips are decided on by your overall gambling plans. Players use differing techniques in the different parts of a game based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Plan

The goal of the Running Game tactic is to bring all your checkers into your inner board and get them off as quickly as you could. This plan focuses on the pace of shifting your chips with little or no time spent to hit or stop your competitor’s pieces. The best scenario to employ this plan is when you believe you might be able to shift your own pieces a lot faster than your opponent does: when 1) you have less checkers on the board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your competitor’s chips; or 3) the opponent doesn’t use the hitting or blocking tactic.

The Blocking Game Plan

The main aim of the blocking tactic, by the name, is to block the opponent’s chips, temporarily, not worrying about shifting your pieces rapidly. Once you have established the blockage for the opponent’s movement with a couple of chips, you can shift your other chips quickly off the board. You will need to also have an apparent plan when to back off and shift the chips that you employed for blocking. The game gets interesting when the opponent utilizes the same blocking tactic.
